Fujifilm Finepix S3100 is a 4-megapixel SLR camera with up to six times optical zoom. Many user reviews say that the FinePix S3100 produces quality photos which look great even when enlarged to 8×10 dimensions, granted that you operate the camera correctly. Many users also point out that the camera needs around three seconds of “machine warmup” before your subject appears in the viewfinder or LCD screen. This 3-second delay holds true for 16mb memory cards, but users say that the delay increases with larger memory cards. This delay may not be a big deal to most users, but it can prevent you from taking spontaneous shots.

The FinePix S3100 has a viewfinder that is pretty accurate, but you may also toggle the image to the 1.5-inch LCD screen with just a push of a dedicated button at the back of the camera. The S3100 also has auto-focus and auto-exposure, which you can access and turn on by pushing the shutter button halfway for a couple of seconds until a confirmation on the adjustments appears. Then you can push the button all the way down and take a picture. It’s recommended to use the automatic adjustments because sometimes failing to do so results in not-so-great-looking pictures.

The downside to using the auto-adjustments feature is that the image in the LCD or viewfinder freezes for a second or two, so it’s an ineffective way of taking action shots or photos of moving subjects. This is why the S3100 itself is not recommended for those who intend to use their camera mostly for action or spontaneous photography. The camera has five picture size or quality settings and three sharpness settings or levels to choose from. There are also four scene modes: night, portrait, red-eye reduction, and synchro flash modes which includes suppressed or forced flash modes.

The S3100 also allows you to take short video clips but without sound. The camera comes with a 16mb memory card which will allow you to save eight high-quality pictures or 16 medium-quality ones. If you’re a beginner and you’re decided on getting the Fujifilm FinePix S3100, you need not worry about knowing how it works because the 100-page manual discusses in detail how you can perform different operations.

Finepix S3100 is dubbed by many as the ideal Fuji SLR camera for the in-between types of photographers. By in-between we mean those who are neither beginners nor professional photographers. Professional photographers may not like the S3100 because manual adjustment of settings is limited, and some first-time SLR camera users may find the S3100 a bit complicated. People who prefer point-and-shoot type cameras might find the S3100 to be a bit troublesome.

Fujifilm FinePix J28 10.2MP 3x Optical Zoom Digital Camera for $96.74

Digital Cameras have brought a revolution in the photography industry. These cameras take both still photographs and video digitally with the help of an electronic image sensor and record them. They can display the images such taken on a screen just immediately after they are recorded and can also store them on a memory chip and you can delete them as and when required.

They share a common bond with the film cameras as they also use lens with a variable diaphragm for focusing light on an image pickup device. This image pickup device is electronic in case of a digital camera unlike the chemical ones in the film cameras.

An engineer at Eastman Kodak created the first digital camera in the mid 1970’s which proved that digital images can be captured and stored on to a separate medium. After this the Sony Mavica that was launched in the year 1981. It was the first true handheld electronic camera but it used analog technology for recording pixel signals. The Fuji DS-1P was considered the first true digital camera which was introduced in the year 1988 and it utilized an internal memory card for storing images.

Now the digital cameras have become an essential gadget in everybody’s life. It is a very sensitive device and good care and maintenance is necessary to enhance its performance and longevity. It is recommended to take proper steps for utmost care of your digital camera so that its life can be maximized and output improved.

Cleaning the equipment with a muslin cloth and removing dust particles with a brush every time before use can certainly produce better results. Good care needs to be exercised while cleaning the lens of the camera as it is a very important and sensitive part of the camera. A fiber cloth or soft brush is recommended for cleaning the lens, if the professional lens cleaning paper is not available. Using a paper towel or paper napkin for cleaning the lens is not recommended.

Jerks and shocks to the Digital Camera must be avoided by carrying it in a safe carry case. It should be kept away from direct sunlight and other high temperature areas as it may affect the circuit board. Water and other liquids must not be spilled on the camera as it will damage the functioning of the camera.

The LCD screen can be covered with a scratch guard and it should be cleaned properly with a soft cloth. Avoid direct contact of the screen with your hands as it may result in improper display of the screen. You must remove the batteries from the camera when not in use for a long time. Batteries must always be stored in a dry place.

Proper care should also be taken while using the memory card in your digital camera. The memory card should be compatible with the memory slot in your camera as any mismatch will affect the results of the camera. An air balloon or a soft brush should be used for cleaning the memory cad slot of your camera.

When you connect your digital camera to your computer, you must take necessary precautions to ensure that no malicious programs or virus can harm your camera. While transferring files from camera to your computer, you should never disconnect in between as it may damage the memory of your camera.

All said and done you must ensure that your digital camera is kept away from the hands of novice. The camera should be taken periodically to the authorized service station for servicing which can increase the efficiency and longevity of the camera.

Maintaining Your Digital Camera For Best Results

LCD TVs are getting more popular, since people are willing to own a brand new LCD TV. also people are more interested over the offers that have been announced for particular brands. Knowing this some suppliers has announced to give away a free matching Blu-ray player for the 600E and 700E series in sharp LED TVs for a limited period.

The new D3000 is Nikon’s attempt to continue the corner on the “cheapest entry level DSLR” market. It comes into the market place at a cool $599, which includes the camera and the 18-55 mm kit lens. That is very attractive, considering only a few short years ago, the price of the D40, a 6-megapixel camera was just short of $1000 when it came onto the camera scene. Technology improvements and obviously competition have had their effects on lowering the price of the most inexpensive DSLR cameras.

But there is already an entry level camera in the Nikon stable. It is the Nikon D5000. so what are the differences between these two cameras, and which one is the better buy?

Starting with the basic specifications that always get the headlines, the D3000 has a 10.2 megapixel image sensor compared to the 12.3 image sensor of the D5000. While many people are driven to buy the newest camera with the most megapixels, it is not as significant a difference as the marketers would have you believe. A 10 megapixel image is capable of producing monstrous prints of just about any size you would want.

Other differences of note are listed here:

(D3000 listed first) vs (D5000 listed second)

  • Sensor size: 10.2MP vs 12.3MP – slight Advantage D5000
  • LCD: 3.0″ with 230K pixels vs 2.7″ with 230K pixels – tilt LCD screen - slight Advantage D5000 because of the tilt screen
  • Live View: no vs yes – Advantage D5000
  • Continuous frames: 3fps vs 4fps – slight Advantage D5000
  • Video: no vs yes 1280 x 720 (720p) 24 fps with mono sound – Major Advantage D5000
  • Price: $599 vs $729 (both cameras have the same Kit Lens included) – your call based on the above features
  • Image quality: equal – Advantage D3000

From the differences listed, the Clear Advantage goes to the D5000. however, one must consider their own needs. The price difference is about $130, and the major feature causing that price difference is the Video capability of the D5000. so, the bottom line will be the whether or not the buyer has a desire for Video in their camera. many folks who are moving up from a point and shoot digital camera have become accustomed to having that capability. however, camera purists will be looking for a camera that has two things, The first is the ability to change lenses as shooting requirements change (hence the DSLR), and the second is the ability to control the cameras shooting setup by manually selecting the priority mode, such as Aperture or Shutter speed.

Are you willing to spend an extra $130 for the video capture feature?

Excellent design, terrible images

Reviewer: Kenan,
I gave this to my younger brother after the dissappointment..I expected a lot from this camera..Design and everything are perfect, but when it's come to the image quality, it's not very successful..If you're under the sun, pictures are okay, but if there's low light or indoors with flash, terrible..I'll buy Fuji only with a high quality sensor like EXR..
Beautiful

My cannon elph stopped functioning after using it in the snow and I replaced it with this one. Honestly, the cannon pics were better in quality, but not too much better. This one looks great and takes decent pics so I'm happy.
LOVE the PINK!

I am a FUJI fan. Saw this PINK and just had to have it. It has a nice big viewing screen, pics come out nice. I just take pics for family and friends, nothing professional, so this is great for me.
Poor Construction

Ok,when I got this camera, I was super excited about it's sleek design...loved how you just slide the cover off to turn this on. I have had it almost 1 year when you day, my husband takes the camera to take a picture of our son in the snow. He goes to slide the cover off and it slid right off! We couldn't get it back on, like some sort of magnetic part was not holding it anymore or something. I called Fuji and was told to send it in with the date and proof of purchase since it was a few days shy of the 1 year warranty. I just checked on the status of the camera and Fuji wants $50 to repair the cover and I was told by the customer rep that this was not covered under "manufacturer's warranty". I asked her if that was not covered under the warranty than what was? She told me that only electrical components were covered. I argued with her that there is obviously some sort of manufacturer defect in the product since the lens cover just slid right off. I was basically told that there is a charge to fix the cover and that's that. I asked her that if this same thing happened after I had only had the camera week, would Fuji still not honor the warranty and she said "yes, I would still have to pay for it even if I had only had it for a week." What kind of customer service is this???? I asked to be forwarded to her supervisor and just shot off and email to him...let's see what the response is....I will update later. But honestly, if this the the kind of customer service that you get from Fuji, I would not buy another one of their product.
very pretty, easy to use
