We round up our picks for the best digital cameras hitting the market in 2010.

During CES, many top digital camera manufacturers introduced their latest point-and-shoot and compact cameras. Most DSLR announcements, however, are likely to be made later this month at the PMA tradeshow. Nonetheless, we decided to highlight the hottest cameras to come out so far in 2010 to ensure they get their due before getting lost in the post-expo shuffle. Be sure to check back at the end of the month for even more top picks, as we take a sneak peek at the year’s top offerings for both amateur and professional digital photographers.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W370$229.99

The Cybershot DSC-W370 is Sony’s first CCD model to offer its innovative Sweep Panorama technology. The Sweep Panorama mode allows the camera to continuously capture images and automatically stitch them together with one easy “press and sweep” motion. Sony was able to stuff a 14 MP sensor into the DSC-W370’s compact body, along with a 3-inch LCD display. Other notable features include 720p video recording, an HDMI output, and a respectable 7x optical zoom.

Olympus PEN E-PL1$599.99

Olympus continues its trademark old-school style with the PEN E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds camera, which attempts to pack the features normally found in bulkier DSLRs into a surprisingly small body. The E-PL1 features the same 12.3 megapixel sensor as the company’s E-30 and E-620 DSLR models, yet in a much tinier frame. One-touch HD video recording and the new Live Guide interface also make shooting quality videos and stills easier than ever.

Samsung NX-10$TBA

The NX-10 runs on Samsung’s NX system, which is very similar to a Micro Four Thirds system, except with a larger APS-C sensor. The NX system allows Samsung to pack the features of a full-sized DSLR into a sleek, compact body. The NX-10 offers 14.6 megapixel photos and a large 3-inch AMOLED screen allowing for easy viewing in bright sunlight, as well as 720p HD video recording in H.264 format.

Panasonic Lumix ZR3$TBA

Panasonic recently announced this full-featured point-and-shoot camera that features AVCHD Lite HD video recording. The Lumix ZR3 comes in at approximately 1-inch thick, yet offers a 25mm ultra-wide–angle Lecia Lens and 14.1 megapixel images. In addition, 8x optical zoom is also featured, which can be increased to 10x with Panasonic’s new Intelligent Zoom function.

Nikon Coolpix L110$TBA

The versatile Coolpix L110 sports a 15x Optical Zoom-NIKKOR lens that covers a wide focal range from 28mm to 420mm and a 12.1 megapixel sensor. What’s more, the L110 further offers a 3-inch high-resolution LCD display and 720p HD video recording capability. Last, but not least, 5-way vibration reduction and high ISO 6400 capability round out its more notable features.

Fujifilm FinePix S2550HD$249.95

Fujifilm’s feature-packed FinePix S2550HD bridge camera offers a wide focal range with an impressive 18x optical zoom and 28mm wide angle with its Fujinon Lens. The S2550HD is great for shooting video with 720p HD recording and a mini HDMI port for easy connection to a home theater system. Other features include a 12 megapixel sensor, ISO 6400 sensitivity and a 3-inch LCD display.
