Fujifilm intros six new J, A cameras with HD recording

Fujifo;, continues its announcements of new digital cameras with a further six models, including the HD video-capable FinePix JV100, JX250, JZ300 and JZ500, as well as the ultra compact and HD video-capable AV100 and AX200. All have a 2.7-inch LCD screen, with the JV100 and JZ300 getting a 12-megapixel CCD sensor, while the JX250 and JZ500 have a 14-megapixel sensor. The JV100 has a Fujinon lens with a 3x optical zoom, with the JZ300 and JZ500 sport a 10x wide-angle optical zoom lens. The JX250 has a 5x wide-angle zoom lens.

Because of their smaller lenses, the JV100 and JX250 are just 18.5mm thick, while the JZ300 and JZ500 are slightly thicker, at 22mm. The four also share a new mode dial for ease of use. Otherwise common to the foursome is tracking autofocus, face detection with automatic red-eye removal and automatic scene detection. The JZ500 is the only model, and the first Fuji digital camera, that can recognize faces and pre-program eight people into the camera’s memory. Up to five of these saved individuals can be recognized in a frame at the same time. The camera will then prioritize settings for the faces of the people saved in the camera. Users can also search for photos that contain only some or all of the saved individuals. The JV100 and JX250 have digital image stabilization, while the other two get dual image stabilization that extends to the mechanical CCD sensor’s shifting because of a user’s hand shaking.

The FinePix AV100 and AX200 share the same 12-megapixel sensor and 2.7-inch LCD. The main difference has to do with the lens, as the AV100 has a Fujinon 3x optical zoom and the AX200 gets a 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens. Either has an ISO range that tops out at 3200. Both have a picture search mode that sorts photos by the setting that was used to capture them, a panoramic mode that stitches three photos together, automatic scene recognition and face detection. They are powered by AA batteries which makes them more travel-friendly.

All six new cameras can capture 720p high definition video.

The FinePix JV100 and JZ300 ship later this month for $130 and $200, respectively. The JZ500 is due in March for $250, and the JX250 is coming in April for $160. The FinePix AV100 will ship in March and cost $100, while the FinePix AX200 is coming within the next two weeks and will carry a $110 price tag.
